On the road to the Nationals

Well it is back on the bike to try and get myself flying come January 10 for the Open Australian Road Championships and I mean flying. I need to be to do well in this race. Not only will I be racing the Australian Pro's and top domestic riders, I will also be tackling a pretty tough course.

A lap is 10km in length with about 2km worth of climbing (6%). The rest of the course is open flat roads, then a fast decent into the start/finishing straight.  We do this 16 times. Basically it is a course of attrition.

It is not a climbers course, it is more of a strong man's course.

So over the next couple of months I have a lot of work to do. I hope to improve my FTP during this time and get my CTL back up to a competitive level so that I can go into the race knowing that I can sustain the power required to finish the race and achieve my goal of top 15.

Hopefully next time I write I can say that the training is going well and I can feel the improvement. Oh yeah and remove the thought "What am I doing!!!?" :)
