Race stats: Tour de Worcester

Posted by Michael Van Staden | 08 Sep 2008 | comments (15)

This weekend saw the Tour de Worcester, the first league race. The racing was tough due to 50km/h wind and a 1.8km gravel section!! The race was flat but the last 35km was headwind all the way with some cutter sections.

I have 1 race file from the elites and 1 1/2 (Kent punctured) from the Sub vets, with Lucas finishing in the front group. Kent and Lucas are my sub vet riders and I in the Elite category.

Notes: in the vets race Kent did only do 1h 34min due to a mechanical problem. He had almost the same data as Lucas. They were in the same group and area of the group at most of the time. Note that Kent has more weight than Lucas, thus his watts is a little more at areas. Kent has a very fast acceleration and would surely have loved to contest in the bunch sprint. Lucas can really pack a punch when we are talking w/kg! I’m sure the next few races that finish on mountains will suite him better.

Elite race: I decided to make my move on the gravel section of 1.8km long. I managed an average of 414wfor the section; and also managed to cross to the leading group. We worked together in the headwind until the back bunch caught us again just before the sprint.

Micheal your Average and NP watts do not seem to be correct. how can your NP watts lower than average watts?

Hi Texas Sally, Thank you for checking my spelling. No, unfortunately we don’t have spellchecker on the site. The NP and Average watts was just in the wrong rows.. Fixed now.

Hi Texas Sally. I was only asking to see your stats as a point of reference. I started cycling 8 months ago so i'm also seeing who's who and how i compare to other riders. Shees! Cyclists sure are a sensitive bunch. :-)Looking forward to Killarney tonight! Yee Haaa!!! Love the PAIN!!! Michael i promise to be inthe front no matter what.

Posted by Kent on 10 Sep 2008 at 11:17:AM
Kent, does that mean u are not a cyclist or that u are also one of the "sensitive" bunch!
