HI Guys,
Sorry for the delay in posts, it’s been pretty busy lately.
So where do we start, there has been so much going on in the cycling world lately. Ricco’s girlfriend tested positive for EPO CERA while the man himself is still under his ban for the use of the same drug during the Tour in 2008.
99er Cycle Race:
Time is getting close! Online entries close in the 8th of February and so does our online competition! Please have a look at www.99er.co.za for more information on the race, route profile, starting times, distances and lucky draw prizes.
Race Tip?
We have 13 days to go to the 99er race. At the moment you can’t improve your fitness that uch to help you in the race, but you can condition yourself which I believe will help you a lot more than going out and doing “big” miles.
Now how do you condition the body?
Start reducing the time/distance that you are currently riding per week about 35-40% and then reduce that in the final week to about 50%. Remember to include shorter and harder/faster rides than normal to keep the legs awake and going. Include a lot of rest, but not too many days off at once, this might cause the body to get lazy and sluggish.
Please tune in on 104FM (Radio Tygerberg) on Friday 5th February, we will be going live to give riders the final information on the race.
My riding?
Most of the blog followers know that I have been diagnosed with Epstein - Barr virus and infectious Monecluosis and had to take a break for about 3 months. Well, I’m back on the bike since last week and did about 4hours for the week. It felt very funny to be back on the bike and very difficult to even ride 30km, but I must admit that I was feeling very good at the end of the week. I’m just waiting on my new road bike and then I’ll give you all some figures on my progress.
