Hi Guys!
I’m back from Dirtopia over the weekend! What a bunch of fun I had, even coming 2nd elite in my 1st ever 15km trail run, but I must admit, I almost took a shortcut just to complete the race!
Winter has arrived in the Cape, and no, I’m really not that happy about it, but hey, we have to get the dams full for summer time..
That said, most of us will take a break from cycling/sport due to the lack of races in your area. I generally see cyclists taking 1-2 months off the bike, losing all their fitness, gaining weight and complaining about it during racing season carrying the excess baggage.
Please keep in mind that you can’t race yourself fit from no fitness at all, our season is too short to. Racing will condition your body for your peak race and help you prepare mentally. So just word of advise, keep active during winter, keep the weight steady and try new things/sports, you can only benefit from the extra added fitness and strength during summer season.
Since we all get sick in winter check this:
