Durbanville Race # 3

Posted by Peter Wright | 02 Nov 2009 | comments (2)

Well, Durbanville was another lesson (as if I needed one) that 6h per week is not enough to race at this level (Well not for me anyway)

I had a much better ride overall and felt much more able to sustain my power through the longer duration, but I was still unhitched at about 40 mins in as we went up the Fisantekraal drag at warp speed..

I watched in angst as my last team mate just made the split as the race went into the gutter - but I could not get to him.

About 8 of us regrouped and rode a steady pace line (Sorry to anybody I abused - but it staggers me how unwilling or unable guys at this level are to ride a smooth echelon - do you want to work harder and ride slower ???) for most of the rest fo the race. The difference was that this time I felt strong trhoughout and was under no real pressure.

237w NP which is 9w better than last week for about 15 mins longer..
