Peter is widely considered one of the country’s foremost experts in power based training. As a coach he offers a strong combination of good relationship skills and athlete understanding coupled with his vast experience and excellent technical knowledge. He has worked with many successful athletes at all levels of competition in both road and TT disciplines.
Over the last few years Peter has continued to expand his knowledge in the field of coaching and has kept closely in touch with many of the leading edge training scientists and physiologists, becoming a specialist in the use of power meters for optimal cycle training and performance.
As Head Coach, Peter continues to oversee the advancement of the BikeMaxPower coaches, development of training programmes, and imparting his knowledge to the rest of the team. Peter has a strong desire to see evidence based coaching continue to grow in this country.
Peter has been in the leisure industry for seventeen years, the last five in cycling, since he set up BikeMax in 2003. Previous to that he was a director of Virgin Active (both in the UK and SA) for five years. Responsible for the launch of Virgin Active’s innovative and successful health club product in the UK, he came out to South Africa in May 2001 in order to oversee the integration of the newly purchased Health and Racquet chain of clubs. His background is in Exercise Science, fitness, and health club operations with a focus on new concepts and developments.

BikeMaxPower Level 2 coach
Michael has been a BikeMaxPower coach since 2008 and also studies through UNISA (Currently a 3rd year law student) Michael offers both on road coaching and online coaching as well as being our in house Bike fitting expert.
Michael has been cycling competing nationally on track and
road events since the age of 12. He has numerous South African and Western Province titles under his belt. Michael represented South Africa at the junior world champs in 2006 and in 2008 at the Intaka Tech Worlds View Challenge in Pietermaritsburg where he was a well represented rider and finished top 20 in some of the stages.
He is currently riding for Charles Potgieter Investments racing Team in Cape Town and has had some pretty impressive results last year in his racing placing 35th in the Giro del Capo and 13th in the Cape Argus Pick ‘n Pay Cycle Tour. Michael is also the Current Western Province road and TT champion and winner of the best young rider in the Tour de Maurice 2009.
Michael decided to become a BikeMaxPower coach after he
started the on road coaching. He is inspired to help his clients to improve their performance and get the most out of the time they have available for
training. He is always researching new ways to improve his knowledge of the
human body and bike fitments in an attempt to improve power and performance.
